‘Game Of Thrones’ Wraps Epic Battle For Season 8 That Took 55 Nights To Shoot

As fans yearn for some fiery dragon action from the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, spoilers and nuggets of news are bound to come out — like the 55-night shoot for a battle scene that just wrapped.

Producers from the HBO fantasy drama recently wrote a thank you note for a 55-night, three-location shoot for season 8. Jonathan Quinlan, an assistant director for GoT, took a snapshot of the letter from the “Producer Types” and posted it on Instagram (it since has been deleted) with the caption, “Says it all. 55 consecutive nights. 11 weeks. 3 locations. You’ll never again see anything like it.” A screenshot of the note was taken by Watchers on the Wall:

This is for the Night Dragons.

For enduring 55 straight nights. For enduring the cold, the show, the rain, the mud, the sheep sh*t of Toome and the winds of Magheramorne.

When tens of millions of people around the world watch this episode a year from now, they won’t know how hard you worked. The won’t care how tired you were or how tough it was to do your job in sub-freezing temperatures.

They’ll just understand that they’re watching something that’s never been done before.

And that’s because of you.

55 nights? That has to be some sort of record for television — and possibly film. Other than the amount of time it took to shoot the battle, we don’t know too much about it. What we do know is that it will be epic and that they shot in Toome and Maghermorne in Northern Ireland. And since it’s GoT, we are guaranteed to see plenty of bloodshed.

The six episodes of the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones debuts in 2019.
